Welcome to Isabella and Scout our mini-donkeys! Originally they were going to move with the couple and their mustangs to Arizona in the summer till Scout developed a bad allergic reaction to a certain hay which grew at their new home . So we got lucky ! 6 and 7 years young , the donkeys with their amazing gentle and sweet disposition and their unique cuddly look put an instant smile on everybody's face . They are so careful that even the smallest students and visitors can safely groom , feed and walk them , which is priceless ! The only problem we have, are constant arguments who gets to take them home ....Thank you to Annette and Gustavo for the gift, they are adorable!!!
Sad Loss - September 2015
Sadly, yesterday the horse world lost one of his big legends to the battle with colic
Sadly, yesterday the horse world lost one of his big legends to the battle with colic, which caused a full blockage of Peanuts digestive track, and although Alice, Bernadette and the vet spend 3 days trying to save him, it was his time to go. Peanut came to us 8 years ago as a rescue horse with many health problems. His unique personality and look, made everybody fall in love with him right away. He was like the "John Wayne" in the horse community. Handsome, flashy, very talented, cool, in charge, and always a little bit of " bad boy " in him. Many of our students have had extensive therapy on him, many of our volunteers learned horsemanship with him, because he was sensitive to everybody's challenges ! We will miss him so much, it's going to be empty without him. But hopefully he is in a better place with Cherokee Babe and Ed !
Horse Show in Los Angeles - October 2014

This year we went again to the Kiwanis competition in LA. It is the largest riding event for riders with special needs in Southern California, with more than 15 therapeutic riding centers competing in both English and Western styles. We took Oreo, Skippy, Blue and for the first time Bisquit ! Congratulation to our 6 students that came to compet and won first places in different disciplines!
Sad Loss - December 2013
2013 was a sad year for the BBTRC horses.
2013 was a sad year for the BBTRC horses. First we lost our beloved Mustang mare Babe, due to colic in March at the age 28, and in November our little paint mare Cherokee had to be put to rest. Cherokee was recovering from old injury, when she rebroke a bone in her foot, causing her excruciating pain and a very small chance to recovery. Everybody who knew this amazing spirited horse fell in love whith her immediately. Cherokee was born ont the property of BBTRC and lived there all her life. She is greatly missed. She was 19 years old.

On October 13 2013 we took 3 horses (Blue, Oreo and Skippy) and 7 students to the 20th Annual Kiwanis Equestrian Competition for Special Athletes, which is the largest riding event for riders with special needs in Southern California, with more than 15 therapeutic riding centers competing in both English and Western disciplines. It was an incredible experience for all of us who participated and all our students came away with ribbons, trophies and huge smiles! The event was sponsored by the Kiwanis and the students received free photographs of themselves during the competition and with their ribbons, meals, refreshments and goody bags. Our fantastic volunteers went above and beyond to make it such a positive experience for all. Their hard work and dedication ensured that everything ran smoothly and the students could enjoy the day.
